VERA WINTER MEETING 24th November @ 7.30pm “How Dr Beeching saved the Railways (and set the scene for the current Railway Renaissance)”.

Our November live meeting at Patcham Community Centre, Ladies Mile Road, Patcham, Brighton, BN1 8TA, commencing at 7.30pm. (Doors open 7pm)

In a talk which may challenge some preconceptions, Tim Kendell looks at the development of Britain’s railways and how they became unsustainable, leading to the realisation that something had to be done. The talk then looks at what changes were actually made and how it enabled the railways to be in a fit state to become the mode of choice for the future.

Doors open at 7.15pm, and the talk will begin at 7.30pm. Refreshments will be available and there is no admission charge for members and guests – but donations would be appreciated to help us cover expenses.
