CITY COUNCIL CONSERVATIVE GROUP CALL FOR AN OFFICERS REPORT ON VERA PLAN TO REJUVINATE RAILWAY

Categories:Uncategorized

The Volk’s Electric Railway Association’s 5 point plan to revitalise the railway was discussed at the B&HCC Conservative Group Tourism Committee earlier this month and they are now calling for an officers report on the plan.

The 5 points outlined in the business case are to improve signage (especially to make the Aquarium Station more visible from the pier), restoring the north siding at Aquarium Station to improve passenger handling, investing in a new all weather accessible railcar to supplement the historic fleet, building a new shelter at Halfway Station, and extending the railway to a new terminus as part of the Black Rock development. During the summer VERA Chairman Peter Williams met Cllr. Robert Nemeth (Conservative Group Tourism Spokesperson) and Cllr. Lee Wares (Conservative Group Transport Spokesperson) at the railway to explain the proposals.
